Anti-War Protest, 2004 Edition

This event marked the first Campus Greens action to protest the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Done on a cold March day on the one year anniversary of the invasion, the Greens joined our voices with other local peace groups at the Leo W. O'Brien Federal Building in protest of our government's actions. Despite the cold, many people showed up to rally around the cause of non-violence and to make it clear that a war built on lies would not be waged in our name. This event was not Campus Green organized, but was one of our major events that we participated in early in 2004.

Can and Bottle Drive

Back in the Fall Semester of 2004, the Campus Greens put on a can and bottle collection drive for all the quads on campus. The goal of this event was two-fold: raising money for our treasury and drawing attention to the lack of recycling on the Albany campus. These event were fairly successful and we were able to collect $75 from the four quadrangles. That was a lot of bottles that didn't end up in the dump and were instead used to further our activities on campus. We hope to continue this event in the coming years to help reduce the ecological footprint of the Univeristy and draw attention to the need for recycling.
